Quasiparticle disintegration in fermionic superfluids

چکیده

We study the fermionic quasiparticle spectrum in a zero-temperature superfluid Fermi gas, and particular how it is modified by different disintegration processes. On top of emission collective boson ($1\to2$, subject previous study, PRL 124, 073404), we consider here events where three quasiparticles are emitted ($1\to3$). show that both processes described $t$-matrix self-energy (as well as some highly off-resonant vacuum processes), characterize associated continua. At strong coupling, heavily distorted near $1\to3$ threshold. Near dispersion minimum, remain well-defined, main effect off-shell to shift location minimum value corresponds Hartree BCS limit. With our approximation self-energy, correction energy gap with respect mean-field result however remains small, contrast experimental measurements.

Quasiparticle scattering by quantum phase slips in one-dimensional superfluids.

Quantum phase slips (QPS) in narrow superfluid channels generate momentum by unwinding the supercurrent. In a uniform Bose gas, this momentum needs to be absorbed by quasiparticles (phonons). We show that this requirement results in an additional exponential suppression of the QPS rate (compared to the rate of QPS induced by a sharply localized perturbation). In BCS-paired fluids, momentum can ...

Pairing gap and in-gap excitations in trapped fermionic superfluids.

We consider trapped atomic Fermi gases with Feshbach-resonance enhanced interactions in pseudogap and superfluid temperatures. We calculate the spectrum of radio-frequency (or laser) excitations for transitions that transfer atoms out of the superfluid state. The spectrum displays the pairing gap and also the contribution of unpaired atoms, that is, in-gap excitations. The results support the c...

Vortices in p-Wave Superfluids of Trapped Fermionic Atom Gases

In order to help detecting superfluidity, we theoretically investigate p-wave pairing superfluids in neutral Fermion atom gases confined by a three dimensimentional (3D) harmonic potential. The Ginzburg-Landau framework, which is generic for p-wave superfluids, is used to describe the order parameter spatial structure, or texture characterized by the l-vector both at rest and under rotation. Th...

Fractional excitation in one-dimensional two species fermionic superfluids

We study one-dimensional two-species fermionic superfluids with order parameter twisted by an angle φ at the two ends. By solving the corresponding Bogoliubov-de-Gennes equation, we obtain the U(1) soliton state which turns out to carry φS/(2π) spin, where S is the spin of single fermion. For Z2 soliton with φ = π, the localized state carries only 1/2 of a single fermion spin. To conserve the t...

Geometric Phase for Fermionic Quasiparticles Scattering by Disgyration in Superfluids

– We consider a Volovik’s analog model for description of a topological defects in a superfluid and we investigate the scattering of quasiparticles in this background. The analog of the gravitational Aharonov-Bohm in this system is found. An analysis of this problem employing loop variables is considered and corroborates for the existence of the Aharonov-Bohm effect in this system. The results ...
